PLANNING AND ZONING OFFICER WANTED
The City of Salem is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated City Planning and Zoning Officer to guide and manage the city's development in alignment with zoning laws, land use policies, and comprehensive planning initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
Review and evaluate site plans, zoning applications, permits, and development proposals Enforce zoning codes and land use regulations in accordance with municipal ordinances Advise city officials, developers, and the public on planning and zoning matters Conduct research, collect data, and prepare detailed reports and presentations Coordinate with public agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders * Attend public meetings and hearings, present findings and recommendations
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in urban planning, Public Administration, Geography, or related field 2-5 years of experience in urban or regional planning, zoning enforcement, or a similar role Knowledge of land use law, zoning codes, GIS systems, and local government operations Strong analytical, communication, and public presentation skills
